About this Experience / Cruise

Board the Tafil at Cancun By Boat Marina in Km 4 of the Hotel Zone and leave the resort strip behind. This 1–2 hour private cruise takes you deep into Laguna Nichupté and through the hidden mangrove canals where the city completely disappears — all you hear is water, wind, and birdsong.

The route passes the iconic Pok-Ta-Pok golf course, under the sweeping new lagoon bridge, along the Promenade, and into the tranquil waters of Laguna Bojórquez before dropping anchor at Playa Conchitas — a secluded lagoon beach where you can swim in flat, wave-free water while the rest of Cancun has no idea it exists.

Keep your eyes open along the way. Frigates, cormorants, and fishing eagles are regulars on this route. Dolphins have made an appearance. And yes — alligators too.

Fresh food and drinks are included throughout — sit back, enjoy the open bar, and let the scenery do the rest.

Sunset is the magic hour for this cruise. The lagoon turns gold, the Cancun skyline glows in the distance, and every photo looks effortless. Whether it's a romantic evening, a family outing, a birthday, or a corporate escape — the Tafil takes care of the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will we actually see alligators?+
Alligators live in these waters and sightings happen regularly, though never guaranteed. Your captain knows the best spots to look. They are most commonly spotted at sunrise, sunset or nighttime.
Can we swim in the lagoon?+
Yes — we stop at Playa Conchitas, a sheltered lagoon beach with calm, flat water perfect for a swim.
Is this cruise good for people who get seasick?+
This is the perfect cruise if you're sensitive to motion — the lagoon is completely protected from ocean waves.
Will we go deep into the mangroves or just see them from a distance?+
We navigate directly through the mangrove canals. You'll be surrounded by nature on both sides with the city completely out of sight.
What are the Mangrove Canals?+
The mangrove canals are narrow natural waterways that run through the mangrove forests surrounding Laguna Nichupté. Mangroves are coastal trees that grow directly out of the water and form a canopy above the boat as you cruise through. They are one of the most important ecosystems in the Caribbean — home to birds, fish nurseries and a natural barrier that protects Cancun from hurricanes. Inside the canals the city disappears and you feel completely surrounded by nature.
How big is the lagoon and how many lagoons are there?+
Laguna Nichupté is one of the largest coastal lagoons in Mexico, stretching several kilometers along the back of the Hotel Zone. It connects to Laguna Bojórquez to the north, making the full system a large and varied body of water. Most visitors to Cancun never see it despite staying right next to it.
Is it nice to cruise the lagoon at night?+
Yes — it's a very different experience from the daytime cruise. The water is still, the city lights reflect on the surface and the mangroves are completely dark on both sides. It has a calm, dreamy feel that's hard to find anywhere else in Cancun.
